I attribute the high proportion of “Michigan” answers to my West Virginia fan base. 🙂
The new one came as a suggestion from the TypeWriter from a discussion in the chatroom last night while my show was going on. I’m curious how college football fans weigh in on this one.

What we all must realize here is that the BCS was never meant to do anything other than to provide a #1-#2 matchup for the title game. Outside of that, it’s all about conference tie-ins, compelling matchups, and making money. The system was never designed to break in-conference ties. That whole debacle in on the Big 12 for using it as such.
Haha! My iTouch thinks that “Cale” should be “cape” apparently. Hysterical.
Your iTouch must be out of touch, Cale 🙂 I was a NY Times subscriber when they first got a real sports section (that sounds weird, I know, but less so when you consider that they still don’t have any comic strips). Their computerized college football poll was the centerpiece of this section, as they tried to show that they could do a better job of ranking the teams than the AP and UPI polls by taking into account factors such as strength of schedule. This poll became the basis for the BCS ranking system, though it’s been tweaked many times since then…
So essentially, the BCS was meant to avoid all the debates the AP and UPI polls generated, especially during the times when they didn’t agree. Given that the debate is just as loud, if not louder, today, it could be said that the BCS has failed in its main objective. And given that you never hear such debates about college sports with playoffs (such as basketball and baseball), the ultimate solution appears to be clear.

p.s. West Virginia fans are welcome to take their old coach back any time they want 🙂
