on zee air

In 20 minutes.

* Hey, New Orleans? GET OUT. Don’t be a hero. You aren’t going to win.
* Texas thinks it’s a good idea to give you a discount on your marriage license if you agree to go to counseling first. Silly, silly Texas.
* Why people think Sarah Palin is the second coming of the deity of your choosing.
* Various and sundry other things …
*A petting zoo … if the guy brings it by the house.

Twenty minutes notice? Good thing you had your loyal texters working on your behalf πŸ™‚ But I was attending an ’80s concert (for free) at the time, hence my absence from your phone lines and broadcast webpage… Hope it was a good show…

p.s. One of my friends who was working the concert took me backstage and I got to meet the lead singer of ABC. I was leaning against the wall in a passageway when Martin Fry came out of a room and ended up right by me. When he saw me look in his direction, he immediately introduced himself. Tall dude, and very nice. I mentioned to him that I’d seen ABC play at the Velvet Sessions, a small monthly concert/cocktail party they have at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, so we chatted about that for a while. Of course, I was cool about the whole thing when it was happening, but afterwards I was like “Whoa! Did I just meet the lead singer of ABC?” πŸ™‚ Very cool… So, even though I didn’t get to call in to your show, at least the evening didn’t go to waste πŸ™‚

Again, I only caught the first hour– but loved it, as usual. It’s funny I kinda was on BDUB’s side regarding the Palin Pick until I heard you and Paige. Good stuff, girl.

Still have to say it was a brilliant little chess move on McCain’s part, whether or not it works… well that’s another thing.

I’m excited to know that we were able to at least give some reasoned balance out — It’s not that I never thought it wasn’t a nice little ploy, but I’m just not convinced the gimmick was worth it.

Thanks for listening! πŸ™‚ I’m always psyched when people say “loved it.” πŸ™‚

Yes, Operation Text4HappyHour was a roaring success πŸ™‚

and I’m so jealous of your last night, I can’t even see straight!!

At least it wasn’t Huey Lewis πŸ™‚ What I loved was the casualness of it all: one minute I was leaning up against a cinder-block wall watching the backing musicians goof around, the next minute there’s Martin Fry leaning up against the same wall right by me. The funny part is, my friend also brought a couple of her neighbours backstage as well, and the wife, who’s normally brassy, tipsy πŸ™‚ gravelly-voiced and loud, suddenly got shy the minute she realized who was on the other side of me. She’s kind of a petite lady, and I’m 5′ 10″, but I swear she ducked down and didn’t say a word. I kept glancing in her direction, waiting to see if she was gonna step around me and loudly introduce herself but she never did. Didn’t see things playing out that way πŸ™‚
